“Freak”, by Little Thief: Bristol’s next big thing

Love a good contemporary rock duo? The White Stripes, Royal Blood, Larkin Poe, Cleopatrick? Then Little Thief is an act you want to keep your eye on.

“Freak”, bleeds power but captures attention without demand. Introduced with a catchy guitar hook that propels the song forward, the song features the complimentary drumming of percussionist Rhii Williams against long-time collaborator Charlie Fitzgerald’s soulful vocal narration. A rival sons-esque earthy and melodic concoction, the release is the leading single from the duo’s upcoming debut album, “Under The Patio”, which is due to land this September.

Recorded with heavyweight producer Stew Jackson (Massive Attack) at Rockfield & Invada Studios, “Freak” is dubbed a song for the “wild card lovers”. It’s an anthem for those who live life in the fast lane and those who embrace fear just as much as excitement. Lyricist and vocalist Fitzgerald explains,

“We wanted to capture the feeling of excitement and fear that comes with those explosively beautiful people. We all know that person or group of people that have the ability to bring out our “fuck it” side. I’ve had a load of people like this in my life, Rhii being one of them. They are magnanimous and that knock on the door on a Friday night always feels like the beginning of a superhero film”.

Whether or not you identify with the track’s ruthlessness, one thing is for certain: “Freak” is a single potent with groove, swagger and resilience. Little Thief have all eyes on them as we await their debut album.
