One of the most exciting, emerging and unique Indie Rock bands to come out of Northern Ireland at the minute, The Caged Hearts have just recently released their debut single ‘On Your Shoulder’ and trust us, it sounds immense! The band consists of Eoin Agnew (Vocals/Guitar), Harley Mulholland (Lead Guitar), Emile Wilcox (Keys), Pat Holmes (Bass) and Samuel GR Morgan (Drums/Percussion) and these guys sure know how to make a cracking tune!
Eoin Agnew (lead singer and guitarist) chatted to us about the single and stated that “The song was written during lockdown so it has a very hopeful tone, the song is about hope and having each others backs whether that be in relationships, friendships or family…which is fitting as we went through so many hardships this year coming out of lockdown. Its an ode to whats been and gone and looking towards the future”.
This makes the track a very deeply resonating tune as we have all certainly relied on the backs of family and friends to help us through the last 18 months. The track opens with energetic keys, exciting drum fills and edgy guitars before Agnew’s distinctive vocals captivate the listener and taking centre stage throughout the track.
The track is very upbeat, uplifting and has an extremely catchy chorus that is unforgettable, Eoin who writes the majority of the bands lyrics also sates that “Writing music for me is cathartic and a release from all obstacles I face in everyday life, I write when I’m happy, I write when I’m sad – all my songs are shaped by my own life experiences so they are truly honest.” “A good song can mean whatever people what it to mean, the best songs ever released all have multiple meanings to different people, thats what makes music so beautiful and unique.”
