One of Northern Ireland’s hottest new emerging Alt Rock bands Villa In France are set to release their highly anticipated new single ‘Burned Out’ – out this Friday.
This will the band’s first release of 2021 and their first single from their upcoming Debut EP which is set for release a little later in the year. Their previous single ‘Faux Feelings’ was released in August 2020 which gained over 8,500 Spotify Streams, making the band a hot one to watch!
‘Burned Out’ was a song originally written by the bands lead singer Aidan Davidson, on acoustic guitar alone in his bedroom. Lyrically, the song shows a vulnerable side to Davidson as he opens up about his struggles with feeling mentally fatigued and drained from being a working musician while also being in college, making the track quite a relatable listen to those working in creative industries during a global pandemic. He writes about the feeling of fragile stability and how people would do anything to maintain stability within their lives “living in sandcastles, blood on their hands”. For a young band, their songwriting skills are exceptional and unique. Villa in France make music with such mature lyrics and unique themes that could be compared to the likes of Sam Fender which make them a very stand out from the crowd artist.
“I’ve got no creative bone in my body – I laugh at reality ’cause the truths always funny” Davidson has always been a rather visual artist so he heavily correlates music with imagery and has always wanted this song to feel like a melting candle.
Every track that the band have released has been a different level with a unique sound which really captures the bands ability to produce, write and perform strong quality music. ‘Burned Out’ is a track filled with sharp edgy guitars, loud and punchy drums with outstanding haunting vocals from Davidson which really draw you in within seconds of listening to the track. Matthew Gillan (Drummer) and Nino Morelli (Guitarist) sound out of this world on this track, these boys know how to shred a guitar and bash the tubs which make the track so empowering. Their Cleopatrick influences in playing really shine through on this track, it’s very energetic.
Overall, ‘Burned Out’ is a superb track from the band and may just be their best work yet. It’s vibey, captivating, powerful, moving and a brilliant listen throughout. It’s also a comforting vibe to those who might be feeling burned out during the pandemic and to know you’re not alone. If Villa In France can produce music this good, we can only imagine their live shows being a completely different level. Villa in France prove that they are a band who can experiment with new sounds and continue to set the bar high in their music career to push themselves. They are certainly on the rise and this is only the beginning, we look forward to hearing the EP!
